Bug Description

gtk+2.0 2.21.0-1ubuntu2 reintroduced the highlyu destructive client side decoration patch
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/maverick-changes/2010-May/000511.html

which lead to pretty much a full halt on testing since everything crashes now.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1490166

Please revert the patch and continue testing in an opt-in ppa with a proper call for testing being issued, till such a time as the patch and our applications are ready for the feature to be merged. Right now it is holding up all other testing which is unacceptable.

This really is just about shutting down a lot of boxes. There is no sense it booting up an OS where most of the most used apps will not run correctly.

I am pretty lucky in that enabling effects, which I absolutely hate, does make the system run.

I build the packages removing the patch and everything seems to be normal now.

Sorry I do not have a ppa set up.

*Just download the source with apt-get source gtk+2.0.
*Remove the diff and dsc file
*cd to debian/patches and edit the series file. Comment patch 064 with a # at the beginning.

And then you build the package like you would. More information at MOTU page. If it complains about gnome-pkg-tools then just install that package.

It took around 1.5h to build everything.

But if you really trust me then I am uploading the binaries to uio.no/~kjele/gtk right now.

thank you for your bug report, the tone you are using and calling others work destructive is not correct though, it's early in the unstable cycle and those changes need testing, you should be running lucid if you need a stable installation there
