Bug Description

case dedscription:
I've recently bought an external firewire harddrive.
when I've connected the drive, nothing happened.

what I've expected:
to see an icon of the mounted drive on the desktop.
(like my windows partition, and an additional fat32 partition).

the drive can be mounted using system->administration->Disks.

I've followed the instructions at:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com//DebuggingRemovableDevices

there is no "attach" button, therefore, I'll add the debug material in the following comments.

It sees that you are using dapper. We had some hotplug issues and transitions in the past. Can you please dist-upgrade to the latest dapper? Does it still fail?

If it still does not work, can you please generate a full hal debug output, as described on the second half of http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices? hal knows nothing about the firewire devices although the devices are there, I'd like to find out why.

Thanks!
