Hi,

sorry, I cannot reproduce this bug. What version of planetpenguin-racer are you using? Will that happen with every level or just with a specific level? And: do you have problems with other opengl application as well or just with planetpenguin-racer?

Thanks,
      Stefan.

Hi,
WOW! I forgot to mention it only happens when an audio playing device such as xmms is playing in the background so I assume its a sound problem. The planetpenguin-racer version is whatever is in the repostories, not sure how to find out what version. Every level causes it. SuperTux, XMoto have no problems with freezing.

Hi,

thanks for the additional info, that's a good start in what direction to look, however I still couldn't reproduce it here.

you can find out the version with

dpkg -l planetpenguin-racer

(alternatively synaptic or aptitude will also display the version right next to the package).

Thanks,
     Stefan.

Hi,

sorry for the delay...
I tried with a different soundcard now, but still haven't been able to reproduce the bug. Could you try to give me a backtrace? For that, you'll need to install gdb. Then run ppracer from gdb:

% gdb /usr/games/ppracer

From within gdb, run the game:

(gdb) run

that will start ppracer.

If the game crashes, you can get a backtrace with

(gdb) thread apply all bt

Thanks,
     Stefan.

I'm also getting system freezes when running ppracer.

Doesn't appear to be soundcard related (used both an onboard intel hda, and an sblive)

Freezes occur unpredictably while ingame (not in the menu).

This is on an amd64 system, with an ati x300 using the r300 driver.

I would have already tried debugging with gdb, but the freeze consists of both screens going black, and the system becoming unresponsive until the reset button is pressed.
