Bug Description

Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx
Awn and Awn Extras: 0.4.0-0ubuntu1 (installed from Ubuntu repository lucid/universe)

Translations of all applets are not shown, although they exist in the source in po-files. I'm using German, but every single applet is English (except for some buttons that are in avant-window-navigator, too). I also switched to French locale, because its translation is most complete, but everything is still English. Just have a look at awn-extras-applets-0.4.0/po/fr.po as it is in Lucid, it's not used at all.

I installed French language support via gnome-language-selector (just to be sure, had German before). Logged out from Gnome, logged in with French. Awn starts automatically. Every applet is still in English. For example Cairo Clock's preferences (Horloge Cairo) should be shown completely translated (the translations are in the po-file, but not on display). The dock itself is translated, but the applets are not, only strings that are shared with the dock. To clarify: Launchers are translated, applets not: Look at tooltips, applet options, just everything. It's best to test with French, other languages are hardly translated.

I'm quite sure this will be applet-specific. Please try different applets and see if that's the case.

I already tried different applets. The problem seems to be, that there is no awn-extras.mo file installed. I'll attach a debdiff that made the trick for me.

Bah ... how can I forget this ...
Thanks for the patch, but this will install translations in all packages. The correct fix IMO is to create an awn-extras-data package, put translation in, and make it a depend of all applets packages.

@ Julien

Since you didn't assign yourself to this bug, I just want to say that I can't make a proper patch for that, I'm not that good at packaging.

I also found out that 2 maintained applets are not installed: Bandwidth Monitor and Wobblyzini. They are not in the debian .install-files, neither for install, neither marked as disabled. It may be a bug, it may be intentional.
