Bug Description

Binary package hint: geeqie

In the fullscreen mode (F key for example) the images does not cover panels of desktop (gnome) as it should.
This happens only if Visual Effects are active. If they are off then all works fine.

geeqie 1:1.0~beta2-9

Using gnome desktop.

gqview has been replaced by geeqie in lucid, gqview is just a transitional package. Moving to geeqie.

affects: gqview (Ubuntu) → geeqie (Ubuntu)

i noticed this wheni had to switch on desktop effects (fglrx 10.6 behaves badly when effects are switched off as i always had, but its different story)

when i press F image sometimes go to real fullscreen and sometimes gnome panels remain visible. if they remain visible i can press F again times to switch off fullscreen and again to switch it on. when i do it several times sooner or later it will be in correct fullscreen mode. i never needed more then few switches to make it work (i never counted them but i guess its about 5-6)

Same problem here I have to turn off Compiz or toggle fullscreen on and off a few rimes for it to work correctly.

A bit annoying.

Guys and gals I had the exact same problem but managed to resolve it quite straightforwardly by going to CompizConfig Settings Manager, scrolling down to the Utility section, selecting 'Workarounds' (if not already selected), click on the workarounds icon, and you will then see a new window with a tab called General and the first entry is "Legacy Fullscreen Support" which is probably unchecked.

Just check it to on and you should find the Geeqie goes fullscreen without any panel intrusions.

It worked for me.

Best of luck. Please do check back and let the bug report know if this fixes it.

Thank you Tony!

I had the same problem with Ubuntu 10.10 and Geeqie.
Installing ccsm and enabling "Legacy Fullscreen support" fixed this issue for me.

Additional info:
My notebook is an ASUS K52JT (intel core i5 with ATI 6370 graphics proprietary drivers ), but this issue also happened on my lenovo t61 thinkpad with intel graphics (open source drivers).
Ubuntu Release: fresh ubuntu 10.10 install 64bit desktop version with the latest updates installed.
