Bug Description

I simply cannot Sync. I've been trying for 5 days. The folder I'm trying to Sync has a grey symbol with an exclamation mark. My Ubuntu One console informs me that "Synchronisation" is in process but it clearly isn't. I have tried "restarting" and "disconnecting" and reconnecting but still I can't sync the desired folder.

Please help.

Also, when I log-in to Ubuntu One, the folder I am uploading is present in my list of folders which I have Synchronised. However, when I check on "files" and select the relevant folder, I am presented with this message:

"We're sorry. Something's not working correctly. Please try again or check the Ubuntu One status page. If this issue continues, please file a bug. Thanks!"

I have tried renaming the folder on my hard drive, I tried creating a new folder and trying to sync that folder, but each time I am presented with this error message.

I'm sorry to hear that Ubuntu One is not working for you. Please run "apport-collect 583295" (without the quotes) from a terminal window. Please also attach your ubuntuone logs to this bug. Please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

You can attach logs to this bug report by clicking the 'Add Attachment or patch' button at the bottom of the page. Attaching these logs will show filenames you are attempting to sync with Ubuntu One. I am experiencing the following (similar) symptoms:
the local ubuntuone synchronized folders show up in webinterface (https://one.ubuntu.com/files/).
files in the local ubuntuone synchronized folders are shown as ubuntuone synchronized (checked in green) but do not show up in webinterface (https://one.ubuntu.com/files/).

Accessing shared files over http using the public ubuntuone adress fails with:

"Ubuntu One
Server Error (500)

Unfortunately, we've experienced an error. It has been reported to the administrators and should be fixed shortly. Thanks for your patience.

Log files attached.

@ David Maher:
I appreciate the frustration you are experiencing. The Lucid release brought a record number of new users that severely degraded performance. The U1 team is working hard to fix the slow system performance. From looking through your logs it appears that the issue may be related to the current server side issues.
The server-side issues make it difficult to determine whether the issue you are experiencing is something local or not. I am leaving this bug as 'New' so when system performance improves we can readdress your bug.

Thanks in advance for your patience!

@ Volker Peters:
From looking through your logs, the error you are experiencing is different to the one originally reported hear although it may also be related to the current server-side issues. Please wait a few days until the current server-side issues are resolved & try again. If you are still experiencing problems, please file a separate bug for your issue.
Thanks in advance!

Hi David. File sync speed is a lot faster now & the server-side issues are fixed (although they are still being fine-tuned). Can you please advise whether you are still experiencing this issue?
If you are experiencing this issue, please upload fresh logs by archiving your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Sorry - I have been away for a while without internet connection.

I have done all the above instructions. I have now tried to Sync again but, unfortunately, the problem persists (with the same error message).

Attached is my log.

Thanks.

Actually, something different has happened this time. Now, the files on my C drive appear to be synchronised with UbuntuOne. However, when I try and view the files (in UbuntuOne), I receive the same error message: "We're sorry. Something's not working correctly. Please try again or check the Ubuntu One status page. If this issue continues, please file a bug. Thanks!"

There other strange thing is that other folders which I tried to Sync but couldn't are still present in my UbuntuOne file page. The files/folders no longer exist, however, on my hard drive. I am unable to delete these folders in UbuntuOne as the functionality is not there.

I have tried to attached a new log (but the page "times-out" when I try to post comment with attachment).

Thank you in advance for your help.

David
