Bug Description

With a default Edgy install, hibernate doesn't resume when splash is part of the boot parameters. When I remove it, the computer resumes as normal.

Reproduce:
Start up the computer normally, (just leave splash in boot parameters).
Hibernate
Power on the computer again: Some kind of hang happens, it doesn't resume.

Fix:
Start up the computer normally, (just leave splash in boot parameters).
Hibernate
Power on the computer again and press e to edit grub boot option. Then remove splash from the kernel line and press b to boot.
Computer resumes.

I can confirm this on HP nw8240 with ATI FireGL V5000. When usplash is used doring the boot, I do not get back into X display, but only get horizontal white stripes (as already described in bug 58455).
If I remove "splash" from GRUB options, resume after hibernate works.

Same here, with a IBM Thinkpad T43.

Splash on equals no resume from hibernate
Splash off equals resume from hibernate

On a Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Pro V2040 resume from hibernate works when I take "quiet" out from grub. Note that the problem only appeared after I installed 7.10 (with encrypted harddrive).

Could this happen only on encrypted harddrives?
