Bug Description

Trying to access an account I got a message saying there was no Java plugin.

How to reproduce:

- Remove or disable sun-java*-plugin
- Restart Firefox
- Open https://www2.bancobrasil.com.br/aapf/login.jsp?aapf.IDH=sim
You get the message "Faça a instalação do JAVA (link para www.java.com)".

- Remove openjdk, icedtea etc
- Install sun-java6-plugin
- Restart Firefox
If it's the first time, you get a dialog that installs security, otherwise you either get the account/password applet.

I will mark it confirmed as there are heaps and heaps of people reporting this elsewhere.

For instance:
http://dannemca.blogspot.com/2010/04/banco-do-brasil-e-o-ubuntu-1004.html

I'm including ubuntu-meta as for the user point-of-view it was something working on Karmic but not on Lucid.

Changed in ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
Changed in openjdk-6 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
tags: added: regression-release
summary: - IcedTea does not work with 35-million-client Banco do Brasil
+ [regression-release] IcedTea does not work with 35-million-client Banco
+ do Brasil

Confirmed, as it also won't open MyAccount at the Canada Revenue Agency. It is likely a duplicate of Bug 553452.

I used the Launchpad PPA Lucid version to re-install sun-java6-plugin and Synaptics to uninstall the icedtea plugin.

Perhaps a Canadian developer can get an epass for testing and not remove the sun-java6-plugin until icedtea really works.

ubuntu-meta is not a holding bay for any regressions - use tags for that. ubuntu-meta is only for the Ubuntu metapackages, which do not seem to be related to this bug.

Hi Colin,
Sorry. Somehow I was left with the impression that now openjdk was installed by default since Ubuntu 10.04 but now I can't reproduce it... I guess I made some mistake and installed it myself.
Indeed it seems that ubuntu-meta has nothing to do with it :-)
