no background image for kdm, krootimage segfaults

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

When selecting a background image from the KDE wallpapers site via the KDM config tool (System Settings), nothing is displayed when kdm starts.

The logfile /var/log/syslog contains:

krootimage[14261]: segfault at 21 ip 00007f885c2b4650 sp 00007fff891582c0 error 4 in libQtCore.so.4.6.2[7f885c1f3000+276000]

I have since switched to GNOME (classic) as KDE was getting more and more unusable.

Sorry about not trying to reproduce the behaviour on newer versions of Ubuntu.
