Unable to add new menuitem

Hello,

The trunk version strikes a strange behaviour by not displaying the menuitem.
I've been trying to add a menuitem. But all in vain!
Here is an example :
<menuitem icon="terp-partner" id="menu_pim_root" name="Test" parent="base.menu_base_partner" sequence="5"/>

I've tried it even without using parent menu too. It seems that ir_ui_menu doesn't load the new menu.
The above example works with stable version.
Can anyone suggest me an appropriate solution for displaying menuitems with trunk version?

Hello Sofia,

I have tried the same way out, and I am able to see the menuitem regardless of the parent.
Earlier it was a code like, menus only with actions will be listed. But, its not more in existence now.

Would you please check again?

No action listed, no parent mentioned. Its simply a menuitem!

Hello,

I used the same code give by you, an obsolete menuitem <menuitem id="abcd_menu" name="ABCD" /> and it appeared in the listing and on main menu.

Make sure the xml file is listed under __openerp__.py or you miss an update.

I would like to assure you that its no more a bug. There is no such code that blocks any menuitem without group permissions.

When the bug was reported, the revision nos. were as follows :
 server - 2262
 client - 1300
By the time, you replied, it had numerous changes resulting to the non-occurrence of the bug. But let me make it clear that the bug wasn't invalid when reported (i.e. on 18th May 2010).

Secondly, just to clarify that listing the xml file under __openerp__.py is something I'm very well aware of.
Anyways, thank you for having a look at the issue.

Its needed to share a generic help instead of putting a directed help because the communications are being followed by lots of OpenERP users and most importantly by some newbies.

And , as said in comment #6, its a trunk series; which always will have lot of changes everyday.
