Bug Description

Binary package hint: dash

According to the Open Base Group specifications, any system that complies with the X/Open System Interfaces (XSI) should support the '-h' option for 'set' within the system shell [http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/utilities/set.html]. Dash does not currently support this, which breaks some scripts (Cadence Virtuoso is one major program that expects the system shell to support this).

Found on Ubuntu 10.04, dash 0.5.5.1-3ubuntu2.

I was able to reproduce this:
chotchki@chotchki-laptop:~$ dash
$ set -h
set: 1: Illegal option -h
$

This will probably be set as a wishlist item for the dash project.

Changed in dash (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Thank you for helping to improve Ubuntu by opening this ticket. I am setting it as Medium importance since it impacts non-core (and in this case, commercial) applications in bad ways.

Changed in dash (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Medium
