if key field contains a comma, it upsets bibtex

Bug Description
if the key field contains a comma this is output into the bibtex file
eg:
@article{
...
}
then bibtex gives the error:
Database file #1: refs.bib
"," immediately follows a field name---line 28 of file refs.bib
: @article{
: ,
I'm skipping whatever remains of this entry
referencer should not output files that are not valid bibtex files.
