apport-bug fails to open firefox citing GConf Error

Binary package hint: apport

When I try to use apport-bug or ubuntu-bug, I get the following:

$ ubuntu-bug apport
GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-6Z8x44Is8Q: Connection refused)

It's possible that this is a duplicate of 441579 or 513907 but I don't know how to confirm that. I've noted that in each of those bugs. I think that apport collect does work so I'll use that in a moment. Any other info needed?

I just tried this again to get another copy of the output, and it worked this time. It was consistently failing before, as above, but I have rebooted since..
