This file is unlikely to exist on your system any longer (files in /tmp are cleaned out on reboot), but if you can reproduce the problem and attach the resulting file, we could investigate the issue.

The error message ends up being written to /var/log/apt/term.log and the name of the temporary file is unique every time. You will need root access to read the log file; look near the end of the file for an error message like the one quoted above.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We do not always have enough resources to sift through all bug reports in a timely manner.

I am setting the Status of your bug report to Incomplete to signal that its progress is pending on input from you. Feel free to set the Status back to New once you have supplied the requested information.

Thank you for your bug report and your patience.

Thank you for getting back to me!

Unfortunately, since filing this bug I suffered a catastrophic system
failure and have had to do a fresh install of Ubuntu, so the term.log on
this no longer exists.

Setting to Invalid as per submitter's latest comment.

There are other bugs about emacs22 blocking a dist-upgrade, many of them in an inconclusive state. If you believe this bug affects you, please attach your failed compilation logs to an open bug, or reopen this bug (change the Status back to New) if you cannot find a better place to upload the log file(s).
