Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04
Package version: 0.12.8-ubuntu4

This bug looks very similar to Bug #85051 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/85051).
But bug #85051 is marked as "Fix Released".

The problem:
Rhythmbox becomes irresponsive when playing stream and internet connection fails.

How to reproduce:
- Open Rhythmbox
- Start playing a stream (for example mms://netshow3.play.cz/impuls64)
- Disable internet connection. I disabled wireless.
( - The connection dies, rhythmbox plays the content of the buffer)
- Wait until the buffer is empty.
- Now
  - If you try to start another stream, nothing happens
  - If you push the "Play" button, Rhythmbox freezes

Expected result:
 - Rhythmbox stops playing and maybe displays an error message.
 - Then it is ready for next actions

Actual result:
 - Rhythmbox does nothing or freezes. (Does not even redraw it's window)

You have to kill rhythmbox by hand to close it, then start another one.

Thanks for the reply Tomas, may you please install the libglib2.0-0-dbgsym and libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym packages? the one you submitted is missing a few symbols, thanks in advance.

I confirm this bug on Ubuntu 10.10. I am attaching my debug output for the same scenario as reported in the bug report. Here is my own account that reflects the debug trace:

1) I open Rhythmbox
2) I click on "Radio" and then choose a stream to play, for example: http://will.atlas.uiuc.edu/media/metafiles/willstream2.asx
3) I cut off the internet connection by right clicking the network-manager applet and clicking "Enable Networking"
4) I re-establish the internet connection and click on the "Stop playback" button in Rhythmbox.

5) Rhythmbox becomes unresponsive and must be killed.
