Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

When I open a session with rdesktop and the screen saver (gnome-screensaver or xscreensaver or xlock) run, I lost the control of the mouse and keyboard (but I can do Ctrl+Alt+F1 and the TTY/1 works OK).

I can kill the screen saver process and return to the desktop, but I only see the desktop, without the keyboard and mouse. So, I can't do nothing.

To check it:

1) Open a rdesktop session
2) Block the computer or, wait the screen saver
3) Try to do any thing

NOTE: My screensaver lock the screen with password, I don't test it without the password lock.

Thank's

from a duplicate of this bug (Bug #24305) here are some comments:

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
---------------------------------
if the screensaver activates while the focus is on an rdesktop window, then upon exiting the screensaver (either password protected one or not) the mouse and keyboard are not working (moving the mouse or clicking around or typing have almost absolutely no effect). The only keys that work are X windows and gnome shortcuts (like ctrl-alt-L, ctrl-alt-F1 etc).

WORKAROUND
----------------------
Everything comes back to normal if you do either one of the following:
a) if you once again activate and exit the screensaver (by pressing ctrl-Alt-L for example)
b) if you kill gnome-screensaver

EASY REPRODUCTION
------------------------------
1) Start a session to a windows pc with rdesktop (you don't even need to login)
2) Open a terminal and run the following command then quickly switch to rdesktop and wait for the screensaver to start
     sleep 5; gnome-screensaver-command --activate

I don't see this as being a gnome-screensaver related issue since, although I have witnessed gnome-screensaver cause the issue I have also seen it triggered periodically (including just now) where a connection dies suddenly between the windows RDP server and the rdesktop client and again mouse/kbd are lost. I am using 9.04 AMD64 desktop and have witnessed it happening both with gnome-screensaver and with a sudden connection drop since 7.10 or 8.04 (forget how old).
