Bug Description
Running the latest Dapper on Sempron 64, the gnome-cups-add dialog freezes when I try to add new network printer using the LPD protocol. The printer is reachable if I use plain cups config. Steps to recreate:
1) System > Administration > Printing
2) New Printer
3) Network Printer > LPD
4) hostname, queue
5) Forward
Now the dialog freezes and the only way out is "Force Quit".

I get exactly the same problem on Edgy fresh install trying to add a Lexmark Postscript printer on a remote LPD.
I added the printer as local, and that worked fine. I went back to the printer properties and changed the connection to network LPD and entered the IP address and queue name. Saved the configuration but printing still did not work.
When I checked the printer properties again the queue name was missing. I re-added it several times but it was never saved properly.
I went into /etc/cups/ and edited printers.conf directly to apped the queue name to the URI like so:
I made
DeviceURI lpd://192.168.0.1/
look like
DeviceURI lpd://192. 168.0.1/ lp
and now my printer works.
