Bug Description

Kieran,

I am using the latest binary release (Beta1). I have been testing the _Find Nearest..._ function. 50 yards from my house is a Police Station, and it is marked on the OSM map tile. When OSN is running (with GPS on), it correctly reports my position, and I can see the Police Station on the same map tile as my current position. When I use the Find Nearest function, it does not report finding a Police Station. This is the same with ATM's. I tried it with hospitals, and this partially worked. My two nearest hospitals weren't reported, but that wil by a OSM tag issue.

As OSN just uses the OSM data, I'm guessing this bug is probably due to the data integrity, but it doesn't explain why I can see a Police Station on my screen, but OSN can't find it.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Chris.

I think it's due to OSM namefinder being out of date. The site says it was updated on 9 Jan 2009, so can you please check if these places were added after that? If that's the problem Tom's said that he will get an update out soon.

Kieran,

The places I couldn't find were added (by me) after this date. I'll bring this to Tom's attention and see if he can give us an update. I'd like to keep this open for a bit, until I get a bit more info.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Cheers,

Chris.

Yes, we had a problem with the updates interfering with the searches in a pathological way.

The good news is I am currently trying to do a reload now.

The bad news is that it will take a few weeks to complete. Once it is there, it will be updated daily again, but the initial load is very time consuming.

Sorry for the interruption in service.

This is really encouraging. I am closing this bug report, as the resolution is beyond our control and it seems that David is doing the best he can.

Chris.
