Bug Description

Binary package hint: cdrom-checker

You need to have a CD with an error in it, in my case I think there was a problem with the first iso that I downloaded.

I used this image: ubuntu-6.06.1-desktop-amd64.iso

(1) boot the desktop CD
(2) run the "check CD" option
(3) check the screen every five minutes, until it finds a bad file
(4) take photos

Before finding a bad file, you should see:

File names on the left in brown, OK on the right in a brighter shade.

After a bad file has been found you should see:

File names on the left in brown, OK on the right in a brighter shade. Further to the right, also in a pale brown, the letters "ch" (the end of "mismatch") and at the bottom of the screen maybe "atch"

Note - My screen does not automatically respond to the video signal correctly in this mode, and tends to crop the bottom line or two. I can play with the vertical positioning but its a pain.

The odd angle was to avoid reflections.

On the live/desktop CD, this is actually done by casper, not cdrom-checker.

We no longer prints all the file names by default, so marking this as fix released.

Changed in casper:
status: Unconfirmed → Fix Released
