Bug Description

Binary package hint: kword

kword 2.1.2 (I only installed kword and its dependencies, not koffice)
ubuntu 10.04

Various places on the net say that Kword can import PDF files, for example here: http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/office_guides/koffice_kword_guide/filters-included.html

Kword 2.1.2 in Ubuntu 10.04 is missing the PDF import filter. Kword is the only linux native application which can import PDF files and export them as ODT files, so this is an important function currently missing from Ubuntu.

These websites are most likely referring to KOffice1. You may wish to request this feature at bugs.kde.org, but this is not a packaging bug. KOffice2 just doesn't support PDF import yet.

Changed in koffice (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

but this used to work!

In 2007 I used Ubuntu's Kword for exactly this. I forget which Ubuntu version I was using at the time.
