Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
After upgrading to Lucid from Karmic, I'm experiencing screen lockups at least one or two times a day. This happens whether or not I add radeon.modeset=0 to the kernel startup line in grub (e.g. with or without the KRM enabled), and usually when switching desktops quickly, making moderate use of compiz.
I see a backtrace at the end of the Xorg.0.log after this happens. Mouse can still move but I cannot switch to a VT. When I log in via SSH, the computer is under high load ( 7 or so ). Even logged in, I cannot kill X successfully or reboot -- I end up using SysRQ keys to sync the disk and restart.

freelock, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/daily- live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) , as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:
apport-collect -p xserver- xorg-video- ati REPLACE- WITH-BUG- NUMBER
Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.
Thank you for your understanding.
