Simple-scan creates documents of wrong size

When scanning a letter size document from a Brother MFC-210C scanner shared over the network from a Debian server with sane, simple-scan creates PDF documents at a size of 34.44 × 48.22 inch, even with page size set to letter in preferences. The only configuration changes made in regards to scanning was to add the server IP address to the /etc/scan.d/net/conf file to enable access to the network scanner.

Using XSane with the same scanner and no configuration changes to the scanning system creates a more appropriate 8.28 × 11.44 inch PDF document when scanned on this same PC. A second PC using XSane on Ubuntu 9.10 also creates PDF documents of the correct size. Finally, scanning documents directly from the server also creates correctly sized documents.

550856 seems to be a feature request regarding automatic cropping in simple scan. This bug is about simple scan ignoring the set page size and scanning in a different size document.

 I have the same symptoms with simple scan and xsane on Ubuntu 10.04 on a Brother MFC-7820N network scanner. Scan size is fine with a Mac.
