Bug Description

When i close the lid on my Acer Aspire One (D250) the screen only goes black. It doesn't matter if I have activated that it should go to sleep or hibernate. It lights up when I open the lid again. (Mint 9 RC)

However it goes to hibernate (I think it is) when I disconnect the power supply (even if the battery is fitted and fully charged)
It was the same in Mint 8 ME when I disconnected power cable. Connecting the cable is no problem.

Hi tux-seven,
Have you tried the LM 9 Final release?
I am still looking into a more permanent repair for this issue but until it is resolved I would try opening a terminal and trying this command for suspend:

sudo pm-suspend

you could possibly make a custom shortcut to do this task for you temporarily.

As for hibernation try:

sudo pm-hibernate

I found this same issue with Debian linux as well, so it doesn't appear to be a Linux Mint 9 only issue...I will keep looking into this to see if there is a solution to assist your Acer Aspire One (D250) hardware :) I will also elevate this to the debian launchpad to see if anyone there has resolved this issue as well.

Hello, the error was remaining in the final version of LM9. Now I am
running LMDE (beside PCLOS) on my Acer Aspire One D250. As you wrote, it
is the same thing in LMDE, it just cuts the screen into black.

Insted - if I just disconnect the external power supply it goes into
sleep!!! It also did in LM9..
