Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

When I download a file in Epiphany a download applet appears in the panel notification area. The applet remains when the download is finished, and does not quit when Epiphany is closed. The only way to remove the applet is to kill the epiphany process.

Can you please provide exact steps to reproduce? I can't quite get the exact behaviour. Here is what I did

1) Open epiphany & start download
2) Close epiphany window
3) notification icon is still there and download dialog is still here
4) closed download dialot, notification icon is still here
5) download completed and application auto-run started (archiver in my case cause i was downloading tarball)
6) closed the archiver app which was holding references to temp file
7) waited a few momements
8) downloader notification icon disappeared

Also are you using gwget extension by any chance? or are you using epiphany's default "basic" downloader?

Give me a bit and I will work on it. It might have had something to do with the gnome shell but this bug was present. I will see if I can reproduce more accurately.

I think this occurs with newer versions of packages from the ricotz gnome shell PPA. So this bug is invalid for Ubuntu. (My mistake!)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Epiphany from standard repository.
2. Add ricotz gnome shell repository.
3. Run 'sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude safe-upgrade'
4. Install gnome-shell.
5. Start Epiphany while using Gnome Shell and download an image file from Wikipedia.
6. Notice the dialog still assumes downloads are in progress and does not go away.

I reproduced this in Maverick, and fixed in the same patch that converted the icon to an indicator.
