Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

In OpenOffice Calc, various pop-up dialog boxes are displayed as an empty frame with no contents.
This happens with the "Insert Sheet...", "Rename Sheet...", "Move/Copy Sheet..." dialogs from the pop-up menu obtained by right-clicking the tab where the sheet's name appears.
It also happens with the "Zoom & View Layout" dialog from the "View -> Zoom..." menu, and furthermore this is also the case with this dialog in the OpenOffice Presentation and Writer applications.
This only happens with some dialog boxes, while others appear to be displayed correctly.

In all cases it is possible to display the missing contents of the dialog box by performing a "shade" and then "unshade" (or similarly a "maximise"/"unmaximise") from the corresponding buttons on the dialog windows title bar.

The problem has also been re-created on a second machine (also running the same versions, Xubuntu v10.04 and OpenOffice3.2.0). Both machines have the NVidia proprietary driver, but when this driver is deactivated the problem still persists.

The window contents is there: when I type a new name and press enter for "rename sheet" dialog of oocalc, then the sheet gets renamed.
The dialog looks like what i often see from frozen GUI apps: when you switch to an other window and back, the screen area of this dialog window does not get updated, so you still see a fractions of the old screen contents (showing portions of the recently seen other app window).
Attached another screenshot.

I can confirm this for OOO build 3.2.0.10 (Debian 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1) and Xubuntu 10.04 (regular install) with ATI graphics card using the FGLRX driver. This is extremely annoying, but thanks guys for listing the work-arounds! The content of the dialog box is its background (typically the the window of Calc, or whatever), but slightly shifted. Moving the dialog does not change its appearance, i.e. it is not actually transparent. When the whole application is minimized and restored, the inside of the dialog (if moved) is updated to the current background, but not to its actual contents (text boxes, buttons, etc.), which indicates that there appear to be different levels of "redraw" procedures, not all of which can correct the problem.

Hello,

I am not using Unbutu but OpenOffice3.3.0 OOO330m20 (Build9567) and the bug is very much alive! In all applications I have been seeing this behavior when right clicking to perform certain actions (like described above or also copy/pasting presentation slides) Quite annoying when you cant read anything. Strange enough when choosing the same command from the menu bar then the dialog box appears normally)

Hope can be fixed.
Using Windows 7 64bit.

Cheers,
Gerhard
