Bug Description

Hi,

The serial port does not work on my Toshiba Tecra 9100 running lucid.
I am unable to connect to serial devices using minicom nor cu, cu says "Connected" but I can't type any command.

Everything works OK if I turn acpi off on boot or with Windows XP.

Regards,

Ed.

Hi edc,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I tried with kernels 2.6.33.3 and 2.6.34rc6, the issue remains.
Serial port does not work natively, I need to boot with acpi=off to get it working.

Regards,

Ed.

I have two Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 notebooks experiencing this issue too. Problem occurs with 2.6.32-21 and 2.6.33.3. Works fine in XP. Turning acpi=off in kernel boot parameter is work around.
