Bug Description
I have a Sony Vaio PCG K13Q, with a wifi Atheros AR5212 PCI 802.11abg, PCI type (reported as LAN-Express mini-pci under XP)
It worked great out of the box under Mint 8, but not in Mint 9 RC, as it did not work properly in Ubuntu 10.04 nor in previous Ubuntu 9.x
It seems like the proper driver is missing (in the kernel?) , something like ath5.
I losse the wifi connexion and what's even worse is that it affects my router, so I loose any internet connexion and I have to disconnect and reconnect my router to get the internet signal back in both my desktop (iMac) and my laptop.
I've read about Madwifi, it seems they have the right driver, but you have to compile it. Ndiswrapper could also do the job if the driver was already installed ?
I've read elsewhere on the Net that other people have problems with Atheros and Ubuntu with recent laptop, like the new Sony E Serie I'm planing to buy. People are talking about ath9, but I'm not sure I recall correctly. I hope I can install Mint 9 on the new Vaio!
I won't talk here about the sluggishness felt and the MintUpdate being slow or freezing...
