Bug Description

I just installed ubuntu 9.10 on this old-ish PC (2004). I connect to the internet using the ipheth driver, by tethering to my iphone 3g using USB. I followed the instructions on this website: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/iphone-tethering-on-ubuntu-9-10-karmic.html. It works well, but what started off this error was when i suspended the system. When i suspend, the whole system powers off (i dont know if its supposed to do this), and on a mouse-click, it powers on again, without booting up again. When it powered on again was when i saw this error symbol on the top of the screen, and it was not tethering to the iphone. I shut down, and restarted the system, and was using the internet via tethering, and suddenly, again i see that error symbol. But this time, the network connection remained, and i'm filing this bug using the same connection. So I dunno whats really going on.

Just to mention that since I reported the bug, I have not tried suspending the PC, and the bug has not reoccurred. This is just FYI.

Hi Akhil,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 575935

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
