Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

The menu item should give a popup with the package manager,

The batch program crashes with the following error:

/usr/lib/openoffice/program/unopkg add MyHelloWorld.zip

ERROR: (com.sun.star.lang.WrappedTargetRuntimeException) { { { Message = "[context=\"user\"] caught unexpected exception!", Context = (com.sun.star.uno.XInterface) 0x0 } }, TargetException = (any) { (com.sun.star.registry.InvalidRegistryException) { { Message = "Couldn't create registry file:///home/robert/.openoffice.org2/user/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.component.PackageRegistryBackend/common.rdb for writing", Context = (com.sun.star.uno.XInterface) 0x0 } } } }

This looks like a potential permissions problem.

Could you please run:
   $ ls -lR /home/robert/.openoffice.org2 2>&1 | tee /tmp/ls-lR.log
and attach /tmp/ls-lR.log to this report?

As well, you may want to try temporarily moving away
/home/robert/.openoffice.org2 to another location and then firing up
OpenOffice. That may "resolve" the problem.

Thanks.

I forgot to test the location of the profile. The home directory mentioned is
located on a nfs share.

Additional research now shows that the problem only exists if the
.openoffice.org2 profile is located on the nfs share. Moving the profile to a
local disk resolves the problem.

This makes the bug of a low priority, it is more a bug for openoffice and has nothing to do with the packaging. I have filed a bug in the openoffice bugtracker

thanks!

I understand. It's a locking issue over NFS. Those are no fun.

For our reference, could you please provide us with the OpenOffice bug
number? We will link it to this bug so that we can track their progress.

Thanks!

Do you have the nfs-common package installed on the system? If not does installing it help to solve the problem for you?
