Bug Description

After upgrade from Karmic to 10.04 I get "low graphics" mode on startup. My graphics card is a Radeon HD2400 (AGP). I ran the latest ATI install package which was fine on Karmic Koala. It made no difference this time so tried to enable ATI driver from Hardware Manager. This fails and gives me the message "SystemError: installArchives() failed". The ATI driver file name is ati-driver-installer-10-3-x86.x86_64.run

I tried downloading the driver directly from ATI, Installing it and then enabling hardware drivers fixes the problem for my HD3200. Had to skip the restart after installing the ATI driver though. The whole thing is a complete pain but it get the job done.

I resolved this by downloading the new driver from ATI. It was released only one day before the Lucid release date so I hadn't picked it up. The version I tried above was 10.3, the new version is 10.4 and ran with no problems. You can download it from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.3&lang=English
