Bug Description

About one times in three after booting the Indicator Applet Session, the one that allows you to logout and shutdown, disappears. It gets covered up by either a half messed-up calender or social network indicator. Clicking on the area, nothing happens and the only way to shutdown is via the command-line.

I have had to add the Log Out Button applet, to ensure I can always shutdown.

Will post screenies when I can, not sure what log is relevant.

I am having a similar problem. Was working fine until I turned on compizfusion. It was working fine yesterday when I first turned on compiz, my apps I have minimizing to the system tray worked fine (Double Commander, KeypassX), but this morning it is messed up. Double Commander's icon doesn't appear in the system tray, neither does KeypassX. When I first turned the PC on today both the session applet was similar to the description by rupert above and also the other applet indicator with mail and sound icons was half duplicated on the task bar? Possible conflict with compiz?

OK, update to the above. I unintentionally removed the notification area and that is why I couldn't see my app icons. But the reason I got confused was because it didn't display properly even after I restarted the PC. It was like I had two copies of the indicator applet side by side, and when I closed the spurious one (I thought) it actually removed the notification area. I turned off compiz and got things working right again ... since turned it back on and everything is sweet so far.

I have the same problem, the user name and status is still there but the logout button disapears. It happends sometimes, but I don't know why. I have to shutdown using command line and it's okay on next boot.

I find I can get the Logout/Shutdown menu back by right-clicking the top panel and changing the "show hide buttons" tick-box. This forces the panel to be re-drawn and the menu reappears. It stays there if I then reset the hide buttons to their original settings.
