I think this is it, not sure why the password I typed didn't work as it doesn't have a password as its a new user or attempt to add a new user:

Setting up usbmuxd (1.0.2-1ubuntu2) ...
Adding system user `usbmux' (UID 123) ...
Adding new user `usbmux' (UID 123) with group `plugdev' ...
Password:
LDAP Password:
chfn: PAM authentication failed
adduser: `/usr/bin/chfn -f usbmux daemon usbmux' returned error code 1. Exiting.
dpkg: error processing usbmuxd (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libimobiledevice0:
 libimobiledevice0 depends on usbmuxd; however:
  Package usbmuxd is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing libimobiledevice0 (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
