This system was perfectly stable for almost a month running Kubuntu 9.10, and seems to be stable now that the update to kernel 2.6.32-22 is installed. Under 2.6.32-21 on 3 separate instances, leaving the machine running unattended for more than a few hours resulted in a lockup.

My Hardware:
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H
AMD 550 BE AM3

Hi hangfirew8,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 574082

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

It's too bad this didn't receive any attention for over a month. I just tore down this system last week and am rebuilding it with a different motherboard. As a result I can't run any tests or pull any logs, and if I do with the new M/B, they may not mean anything. At the time I entered the bug, "kernel logs" was not a requirement for entering the bug, I entered all logs requested at time of entry.

In the future, please request all required logs and data within a week of a bug report, and I'll do my part and post all of them. But coming back over a month later, it is not realistic to expect that logs to be available or even relevant.
