Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in openoffice.org.
(With many applications, you can report a future bug directly on the appropriate package by opening the application's "Help" menu and choosing "Report a Problem". https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 573879

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Changed in openoffice.org (Ubuntu):

I also have the same problem. At first I didn't, but suddenly it became impossible to save in .rtf format. Just upgradedo to 10.04 3 days ago.

I followed the instructions to apport-collect, until it said i was not the one authorized to do this. Something went wrong, I guess.

Thanks,

PB

This is not an ubuntu nor a linux problem. It is entirely an openoffice-bug. The same thing happens on windows.
There's a thread on the subject here: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=98466
However it has not been reported as a bug to openoffice. I, for one, don't understand their bug-reporting system at all (as I write in the thread I mentioned). Unfortunately it seems that no one else does either.

Oh. And to reproduce the bug you have to use the copy-function at least once in the document. Then save to rtf, and it WILL crash.

Ok. It seems there might be a fix in 10.04.1 if I understand this correctly:
