In addition to the above inquiry, are you trying to rename an account that is enabled/online? In the latest version of Pidgin (2.7.0), an active or online account cannot be renamed because the text box is disabled.

it seems that you has misread my report comment... I haven't typed that I want to rename my IM account, but an account on my contact list

I guess what you mean is "rename a contact on your buddy list." That could be a clearer description?
I can't replicate it with Pidgin 2.7.0 on an Ubuntu 10.03 machine. Can you try this on the latest version and confirm if it still a problem? If yes, you might as well report or forward this bug report upstream. Thank you

This bug happens quite rare, so it's hard to reproduce it. For now Pidgin is working correctly in this matter (testing now on Ubuntu 10.04)

Thanks Michal and good to know that it's so far working correctly.. I haven't had any troubles with Pidgin since upgrading.
