in Lucid
installed via PPA and Reinstalled via DEB
version 1.1.3

I can't see anything when selecting transitions or effects tabs.

I have changed the language to spanish globally and now works fine

I have transitions in my Ubuntu distro but not in Pclinuxos and I've reinstalled it but no change, thanks.

If it has to do with languages: I'm Dutch but Ubuntu and OpenShot both have English language menus.

Check all your dependencies like here : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=372
and also the frei0r-plugins that we have forgotten to put as obligatory and not optionnal like it is for this version.
It can help you for having transitions and effects.
