Hi Federico,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your bug report. Please log in using AC power, then stop gnome-power-manager, unplug AC and run "apport-collect 573486" (on battery)

I found that this is related to brightness control. When I change brightness with AC power, the laptop reboots. So that was why it rebooted when on Battery mode g-p-m reduces brightness.
Please tell me how can I help to solve this. I can provide any info you need.
I'm running 10.04 32bits on HP Pavillion dv4-2111la

One possible but uncomfortable solution is to install the flrx package (ati restricted drivers). After i installed those drivers the problem was solved.
Anyway i came here looking for an alternative solution to that problem.... still no luck :(
Bye.
