Bug Description

Binary package hint: mdadm

I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04
I'm using /dev/md0 (xfs) which I believe is the issue (mdadm). It was working fine before the upgrade.
Now when I try to boot, right after grub the screen locks up/freezes so much that even the caps lock light no longer works on the keyboard.
I'm thinking it's either a video card issue (ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4200]) or a RAID (mdadm) issue, but it is very hard for me to debug.
I tried using the recovery option in grub, and mentions:
md0 disabling barriers trial barrier write failed but that scrolls by to a new screen that starts to fsck xfs

/sbin/fsck.xfs:XFS file system
/dev/sda1: recovering journal
/dev/sda1: clean ... (check in 5 mounts)
init: unreadahead-other main process (493) terminated with status 4

It hangs here, but I forced it to continue

I notice when in a forced recovery shell it's not showing /dev/sda2 as part of the RAID array, but sdb1, sdc1 and sdd1 are there. I have /dev/sda1 as /boot

Turns out it was this bug, not easy to detect!
Comment out the usb line in /etc/fstab and all is well again. Anyone with Virtualbox with USB that upgrades to 10.04 may have this error where their machine will freeze with mountall on boot.
