Binary package hint: update-manager

After running the update-manager, I received this message:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.

apt.log includes the line:

Reinst Failed because of libqt4-dev

which is the reason for my summary, but there are a few other packages mentioned there as well. I'm not sure which are most important.

And now some more information, which allowed me to make a further step.

I removed the package qt3-dev-tools.

This removed many other packages, and when I went back to the upgrade, I was allowed to start the download.
