Bug Description

OS: Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS
SYSTEM: 750 MB RAM, 5 GB swap, Nvidia ION chipset

ISSUE:

Using navit, especially when scrolling the map, increases the memory usage from 300 MB to 95% within seconds and the system starts grabbing the swap then.

Of course, it makes the whole system extremely slow and navit is constantly freezing.

Navit works perfectly on my other system with karmic installed, but in this case it literally eats my RAM.

I got navit from http://navit.latouche.info/ubuntu/

Feel free to ask, if there are any questions.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in navit.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

We don't support packages that aren't included in our repository, especially not daily builds. Can you try to reproduce the issue with the repository version (0.2.0~svn2897+dfsg.1-1build1) please? Thanks.

Hello Philip, am I to reopen the topic using ubuntu-bug this time?

The repository version (0.2.0~svn2897+dfsg.1-1build1) was already installed. Maybe I should've mentioned it's the 64bit one.
I reinstalled navit and the issue is still occurring.
