Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

update-manager crashed.

If I remember correctly I was updating the package list, which came back without any error dialog, but it still said to have been checked ~13 hours ago the last time.

I then checked again, and this time it worked.

Looks like a problem with the ftp server, which should get handled properly:
  [...]
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/ftplib.py", line 218, in getresp
    raise error_perm, resp
URLError: <urlopen error ftp error: [Errno ftp error] 550 Failed to change directory.>
