Bug Description
My RT2570 wireless card worked perfectly in all versions of Ubuntu from 7.10(ish) - 9.10. Never worked on Windows XP. Upgraded to 10.04 last night. The card now drops connection quite frequently (could stay up for 10mins - 1hr) and is slow, rarely getting over 100kib/s to a local computer.
To get the connection back I must:
- click disconnect in nm-applet
- sudo ifconfig wlan0 down
- click on my preferred network (NETGEAR)
Further info:
Original install was Ubuntu 9.04 upgraded to 9.10 and now to 10.04. Will try a clean install on a different machine (card is usb) and see if that makes any difference.
This is the only problem I have had with the new LTS. I will stick with it for a while and hope that a fix will come down through the pipes. I am generally very pleased with the new Ubuntu - thanks to everyone for their great work!
Hi Steve,
Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 572902
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
