Menu/Window placement incorrect

Bug Description
When I click a menu drop-down for the first time or click the "help/about" box, the placement of these items is wrong. They will appear in a random corner of my screen, away from the application itself.
Clicking a second time it'll appear in the right place (at the drop-down icon for menus, centre screen for about box).
