Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-applets
Brand new installation of 10.4 here. I noticed that the volume control that normally appears in the notification area was missing. As there is not volume applet anymore, this meant that to change the volume I have to go to System-
I saw a workaround on the forums that indicated I should add the indicator applet back to my panel and the volume control would reappear in the notification area. There is no obvious reason whatsoever that it's presence should be a prerequisite of someone changing the volume easily!
thank you for your bug report, it's not a bug though, ubuntu uses the sound indicator if you don't want it, it's up to you to change your session to run the gnome mixer in your session...
