Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I + II:
OS: Karmic Netbook Remix
HW: Asus EEE 900
Ubuntu One: 1.0.3-0ubuntu1

III:
Wanted Ubuntu One on this system.
Started via "Menu" --> "Internet" --> "Ubuntu One"

Tried reinstalling all the modules, but still am faced with same weird situation...

IV:
1) Ubuntu One icon does appear in dock when selected...
2) has however a cross in a red field indicating disconnected state...
3) left-mouse-click on it followed by 'Connect' do not lead to result...
4) access via web does work... (and I see the files the other system has put there)
5) putting a file there (via the web) does work as well... (the file does appear in the corresponding folder at the other computer)
6) use of u1sync doesn't help...
7) instruction "u1sdtool -q; killall ubuntuone-login; u1sdtool -c" works partly...
Output:
ubuntuone-syncdaemon still running.
ubuntuone-login: no process found
Usage: u1sdtool [option]

u1sdtool: error: no such option: -r

The instruction comes from http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/FAQ
8) have no other way/button of getting this computer on Ubuntu One...

Please indicate if you need additional information (and which).

Kind regards,

The workaround 'u1sdtool -q; killall ubuntuone-login; u1sdtool -c' was for people upgrading to Lucid that were experiencing a bug. You should not have to do that. Also the Preferences panel located in the 'Me Menu' is on the newer version in Lucid or the Beta/PPA.

Lets try and get your computer added. Can you try the following and let us know the results.

   1. Quit the Ubuntu One client
   2. Open Applications->Accessories->Passwords and Encryption Keys
   3. Click on the arrow next to "Passwords"
   4. Right-click on the Ubuntu One token and select "Delete"
   5. Go to https://one.ubuntu.com/account/machines/
   6. Click on the checkbox next to your computer
   7. Click the "Remove selected computers" button
   8. Open Applications->Internet->Ubuntu One
   9. a web page should open, prompting you to add your computer to your Ubuntu One account
  10. Add your computer

You should be connected after you follow these steps. If you are not connected, can you please attach the following files to this bug report?

~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/oauth-login.log
~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

Thank you,

After you make a comment and/or attach logs you can change the 'Status' of your bug back to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box.

Could find it on the machine that actually does work, could not find it
at the other machine (with the problems)...

Could find the computer that actually does work there, could not find
the affected system... did log out there (just to be sure...)

OK, see attachment... (UbuntuOne.Client.Applet Starting Ubuntu One
Client version 1.0.3)

Sorry, no such file... but I did find a syncdaemon.log, so including
that in the hope it helps... (indicates that the UbuntuOne client did
indeed stop, but nothing after that)

Thank you for a prompt reply...
Please let me know if you need any additional information or tests.

OK,

I might have a reason for the problem, but I'm not sure this is a good workaround... at least I progressed (of sorts)
Some of these steps might be irrelevant...

1. Upgraded UNR to 10.04 Lucid...
2. verified that no Ubuntu One key was present (in Applications->Accessoires->Passwords and Encryption Keys)
3. killall ubuntuone-login ubuntuone-syncdaemon
4. started Ubuntu One
4a. got the web page *WITH* the add this computer
4b. got a message/warning from NoScript (Firefox addon) ABE about one.ubuntu.com...
4c. shut ABE off for that one...
5. account now shows two computers...
6. Passwords and Encryption Keys now also show Ubuntu One token...

7. can put files on the share from either side... and have them eventually show up at the other side...

In between stages of 7, it seems to help (of sorts) when one reconnects :-(
Also, in the category "snails and salt"... not as easy to use as Dropbox (I like the icon on the panel it gives)...
