Bug Description

This was NOT an issue until around the time the RC bits were pushed... or perhaps it re-appeared after the fix for the X memory leak...

In any case, every so often in FF 3.6.3 on my currently updated Lucid system, I get hundreds of these messages dumped to terminal (depending on what web page I open up, it seems)

For example, http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/29/ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx-arrives-on-the-scene/ caused a few hundred lines of XID collision warnings to appear on a terminal I was not even touching at the time.

(firefox-bin:14758): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

(firefox-bin:14758): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

(firefox-bin:14758): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

(firefox-bin:14758): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

I did a little poking and found this in the ubuntu forums, going back at least to Karmic (Though I never saw this until just before the final Lucid release: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7506398

That seems to indicate that it's a bug with Gnome in gdk: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581526
and mozilla: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467744

Thanks for the report but please, please, please do not file bugs in meta-gnome2, if you look the description of the package you'll notice that this is a meta package and it doesn't have *any* code to manage anything like that, if you don't know where to file bugs please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage or ask on IRC. That's a long standing bug and a duplicate of bug 401823

yikes... sorry about that. I just said gnome, apport did the meta stuff ;-) guess I should have said gtk instead...

But yeah, duplicate and thanks for linking it to the right original bug.
