blank screen with 10.04 LiveCD unless nomodeset used

Bug Description
When Ubuntu 10.04 loads from LiveCD on LG laptop, screen goes blank. It works OK when "nomodeset" is specified.
Version 9.10 works perfectly on the same computer.
