upgrade to 10.04 crashes (prob. adept bug)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

I tried to upgrade my Kubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 using "update-notifier-kde -u" command but after few packages downloaded, the adept exit silently.

Does it helps if you open a terminal and run
$ LANG=C update-notifier-kde -u

May be, I fixed it by using "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" in konsole :o), anyway, was it caused by me? (e.g. have I installed something it didn't like?)
