Bug Description
Binary package hint: libgtk2.0-0
I doubt that this can really be considered a problem with eclipse, so I've reported it under gtk+. I might be interpreting this incorrectly, because it might have something to do with transparency, but I doubt it.
The gtk theme in Lucid Lynx renders tooltips as white text on black backgrounds. Maybe this works for tooltips that are specified to contain only WHITE text, or the default text colour, but in eclipse, the tooltip text is primarily specified to be black.
Tooltips in eclipse are incredibly useful - they allow programmers to peek into function / structure / class definitions without the need to open up a new editor window.
The 'normal' background of tooltips in eclipse is a light yellow, which provides good contrast. However, in Lucid, this background colour is overridden to be black, which renders the tooltip text useless.
Whatever software is responsible for FORCING the tooltip text background to be black, should most definitely NOT do so. I can understand that having a 'default' background colour is good for consistency purposes, but if a program specifies a colour, that colour should not be overridden.

I'm experiencing the same problem with the Ambiance theme.
