Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
i think this may the "same" problem when 9.04 is released: totem in intel video card machine can't play films.
this time the phenomenons are :
1 when compiz is on, totem can't display video, with no error or warning.
2 when compiz is off, video output by totem can be see by these methods: left click the totem title bar; pop up any menu. but the video's color is abnormal.
3 but totem's visual effects can be displayed.
4 no only affect totem, mplayer install from software source can display video, but video's color is abnormal.
5 seem not affect xine back-end player, my kubuntu update from 9.10 plays video file normally.
-----------
all the test film is from ubuntu example, so don't ask me if gstreamer plugins are installed. totem can play but can not display, no error , no warning. mplayer latest is not test.
-----------
my another computer thinkpad x200 does not have these phenomenons. (lucid rc)
----------
i don't think this is player's bug, so i put it here

Hi, sorry you had trouble getting Ubuntu working on your 8xx chip. I'd like to have you re-test against natty and if it's still not working right, please file a bug upstream at bugs.freedeskto p.org against Xorg / Intel.
The intel driver seems to not get tested well against the 8xx chips and we've seen lots of regressions and mis-features. Unfortunately the driver code seems to be rather fragile as well, so we've found we cannot effectively patch and maintain the driver at the distro level, and thus are no longer providing development support, nor will be backporting fixes to older Ubuntu releases. You may still be able to get some technical support from places like http:// askubuntu. com and similar to work around problems.
